What's Next?!?

What's next?!?  The Lord continues to stir my heart on adoption...especially adoption on the international front...especially adoption of those children who might not seem as adoptable.  In the "adoption world" it is termed a waiting child.  Sometimes they can be waiting because they have a special medical need, but more often than not, it is because the child is older and not as appealing to those adopting.  Most people adopting want the little babies.  Don't get me wrong, I am glad people want to adopt and want to adopt babies, it is just not want I am drawn toward right now.  Does that mean we are going to adopt soon?  I don't think so.  If it was just up to me, I would sign up tomorrow.  But, there are two other people in the equation and Tim has said he feels we should wait and the Lord has not given me a clear direction either so I will wait on His timing.  It hurts though to know that there are children waiting for families and that there are so many people that could help them and do nothing.  Do I think that everyone should adopt?  Absolutely not (although I do think that more people would if they would just seek the Lord's heart on that one), but I do think that we, as Christians, do have an obligation to help orphans.  I know that when the time is right...if it is ever right...for us to adopt again, that the Lord will make it crystal clear.

I did have a good friend approach me about going on a mission trip to Ethiopia to minister to orphans.  Oh my...I would LOVE to go.  If only I had the $3500 to go.  If only Samuel was not in such need of his Momma.  I don't know if he could make it 12 days without his Momma and I am not sure my mother would be in favor of coming for that long to help with the children.  And then, how do you raise that kind of money?  We certainly do not have it in our budget.  Would people be willing to sponsor me?  I think "the church" (the body of believers) already has all the funds needed to send people on mission trips, but well...that is a topic for a whole other post.  However, all that being said, I am still going to pray about it.  As I have said before, I would LOVE to go.  If the Lord would see fit for me to go, then He will make a way.  I have no doubt about that.  Although, if I did go, I am afraid I would be so ON FIRE to adopt again that people would probably think I was crazy...but, as I have said before, didn't people think Jesus was crazy?!?

So, in answer to the question...what is next?!?  Whatever the Lord leads us to.
